Penalties are necessary to establish a hierarchy between infractions and their severity levels. There are penalties for every level and progression in case of breaking the same rules.
Define the corresponding levels of infractions and punishments.
Severity: Light
Light infractions are inconvenient, but generally they do not compromise the integrity of the game, players or company. They are usually unexceptional and easy to get way with.
Light Infractions are expressed through verbal or written warning.
Severity: Moderate
Moderate infractions interrupt or compromise one or some players' entertainment. They may bother many users and also require a lot more attention from the company. However they do not require any type of repair or major intervention.
Moderate Infractions are expressed through written warning and a 24hour-suspension.
Severity: Severe
Severe Infractions blocks one or more players' game experience or compromise the entertainment of several players. These infractions are time consuming and require repairs from the company.
Severe Infractions are expressed through a 3-day-suspension.
Severity: Capital
Block game experience of several players. These infractions stand for some unacceptable infraction, resulting in a waste of both time and resources of the company.
Capital Infractions are expressed through a 5-day-suspension.
Severity: Terminal
* Terminal infractions, as its name suggests, do not admit case repetition or second chance of any kind. Disruptive behavior, attacks or threats to the community, game, developer or any of its members or representatives constitute terminal infraction.
Terminal infractions are expressed through immediate banning.
Warning
A warning is just a notice reminding a player that his or her conduct is not appreciated in the community. But in any circumstances it should be treated carelessly. This warning also mentions the triggering act - in case of light penalties, an informal warning can come via the venue of infraction.
24 hour suspension
User account access suspended for 24 hours. He/she receives notification about the nature of the infraction.
72 hour suspension (3 days)
In case of repeating the item above, account will be suspended for 72 hours.
120 hour suspension (5 days)
In case of repeating the item above, account will be suspended for 120 hours.
Immediate banning
User access full suspension to the community and game. The user will just be able to read the forum at free visitor areas. This level of punishment covers all types of accounts and the user is no longer able to create a new account. The user receives a notification reporting the fact.
Notes:
* Some moderation measures can be used by moderators or GMs. They can, according to their own criteria, inflict minor penalties in relation to the ones expected (though only in cases of "light" or "moderate" infractions).
* Every penalty to infractions more severe than "light" follows necessarily, a written warning.
* Penalties to Light infractions are restrained only to media where the infraction has occurred (excluding cases in which they extend to other media). This means that anyone trying to flood or troll at the forum, may be suspended from the forum only if the practice do not affect the game or IRC.
Appealing:
* Appealing to any of the above, or request of review should be sent to suporte@hoplon.com. Similar appeals or requests made through any other vehicles or media are considered as disagreeing with the moderation and those will be dealt as such.
* Immediate banning does not allow appeal.
Repeating most infraction results in a progression of penalties even harsher.
Light Infractions:
* Escalate to a "Moderate" level;
* Light infractions never result in banning.
Moderate Infractions:
* Escalate to a "Severe" level;
* Moderate infractions never result in banning.
Severe Infractions:
* Escalate to a "Capital" level;
* Severe Infractions may result in banning if escalated.
Capital Infraction:
* Escalate to a "Terminal" level;
* Capital infractions may result in banning if escalated or repeated.
Terminal Infractions:
Do not escalate. Infractions classified as "terminal" need no warning or previous punishment to result in banning.
Progression:
Escalation affects not only immediate punishment (in case of repeated infractions), but also defines every member status in the community. The status displays a member's most severe infraction or a step further in case of infraction repetition.
In other words, if a member gets a moderate infraction, he/she will receive a level of "legality"; same way, anyone who repeats light infraction will occupy a "moderate" position. If any of those gets another infraction "moderate" or "severe", they will occupy a new position. If on the other hand, this new infraction stands for "capital", they escalate to this new position without going through "severe".
Once you are at "capital" level, any severe or greater infraction results in banning.
